View of sailors on a dhow (sailboat) in the Persian Gulf near Dubai. In the foreground a folded sail rests on the deck of the dhow. Behind it two sailors stand facing the ship's mast. The man on the right holds onto some ropes attached to the mast. On the left a third man stands beside a lifeboat, looking up towards the top of the mast. In the far right background, a fourth sailor stands at the side of the boat. In the distance beyond the sky is clear and the sea choppy with small waves. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's May 18-28, 1948 journey by dhow from Dubai to Bahrain Island.
Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
