View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking through Baynunah or Al Khatam sands during their return journey to Al Ain. In the foreground a line of footprints marks a curve across the slope of a dune. On the far left three of Wilfred Thesiger's Rashid Bedouin companions ride camels along the crest of a dune, followed by the party's saluki hunting dog, Warad. Further along on the right a forth man leads the party, riding his camel along a dune crest. In the distance beyond a few clusters of vegetation grow amongst rolling dunes, and low wispy clouds stretch across the sky. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.
