Seated portrait of an Arab man, a retainer in Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's hunting party, making coffee in the sands near Al Ain. The man kneels in the sand, grinding coffee beans with a mortar and pestle. Coffee paraphernalia, including a sack of coffee beans, an urn, and porcelain cups, lies in the sand in front of him. The man wears a khanjar (dagger) on a cartridge belt over his thobe (shirt) and a tied ghutra (headscarf). Behind him a vast expanse of flat sand continues from the foreground to jagged mountains in the far distance.
