Description

View of five of Wilfred Thesiger's Bedouin companions standing in a plain in the Al Ain/Buraimi oasis. At the centre two men stand point rifles at each other, watched by three men standing just to the left. The ground surrounding the men is carpeted with grass and a few sparse dots of vegetation. Behind the men the mountain Jabal Hafeet [Jabal Hafit] looms in the distance. This image was taken during April 6-30, 1948, when Wilfred Thesiger stayed at Al Muwaiji fort in Al Ain as a guest of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
