View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party at a palm grove in Liwa oasis. In the foreground four of Wilfred Thesiger's Rashid Bedouin companions stand with their camels beside a grove of date palms. On the left one man stands beside his couched camel, while on the right the other three men mill amongst four standing camels. The camels are all saddled and loaded with gear. In the background young date palms, which are cultivated by local Arab villagers, grow in rows in the sand. In the far distance softly rolling dunes rise above the grove and stretch along the horizon. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
