View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking through Al Batin sands during their journey across the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali) from Al Dhafra sands to Liwa oasis. Members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party, tribesmen of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, ride across soft rolling sands towards a large salt flat (sabkha). Baggage camels follow along behind the men's mounts. The high dune on the left has a sheer side where it borders the edge of the flat, which is dotted with salt bushes. At the right more dunes rise in the far distance beyond the plain.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
