Seated profile portrait of Musallim bin Al Kamam, a member of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party, resting in the Al Dhafra sands during the party's journey to Baynunah. On the left Musallim bin Al Kamam, a sheikh of the Musaifar lineage of Rashid Bedouin, sits cross-legged on a stretch of wind rippled sand, near the edge crescent shaped depression. He holds a rifle and a camel stick in his hands. Below him on the right two large bushes grow in the the depression amongst scattered tufts of vegetation. In the distance behind him low rolling dunes dotted with scattered vegetation fill the background below a cloudless sky. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.
