View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking through Al Batin sands during their journey across the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali) from Al Dhafra sands to Liwa oasis. Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party, tribesmen of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, rides across a vast salt plain (sabkha) dotted with salt bushes. Baggage camels follow along behind the men's mounts. In the foreground a few bushes grow in the sand. In the distance a small, triangular hill rises out of the plain, and in the far distance high dunes rise.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
