View of a member of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party standing on a dune in Al Batin sands during their journey across the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali) from Al Dhafra sands to Liwa oasis. A line of footprints leads from the foreground towards a man, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, who is standing on a dune crest. The man casts a long shadow over bare, rippled sand. A vast expanse of low rolling dunes spreads out across the distance before him. A depression between distant dunes contains four large bushes growing together, and in the further distance more vegetation grows along the sides of the dunes.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
