Description
Full length standing portrait of an elderly Bedouin man and an Arab boy at Dubai. On the left a young man wears a waistcoat and a khanjar (dagger) in a scabbard over his thobe (ankle-length shirt). He holds a camel stick in his right hand and has a piece of cloth draped over his shoulder. An elderly Bedouin man with a large white beard stands on the right. He wears a large ghutra (headscarf) and a thobe cinched with a khanjar (dagger) in a scabbard on a belt. He also holds a cane in his right hand. Wilfred Thesiger has described this Bedouin man both as a Mansuri (a tribesman of the Manasir Bedouin) and as a tribesman of the Murra tribe. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's May 10-18, 1948 stay in Sharjah and Dubai.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
