Description
Half-length portrait of an older Bedouin man outside Al Muwaiji Fort in Al Ain. A man wearing a thobe (long shirt) and a headscarf (ghutra) topped with a thin black aghal (head rope) stands in front of the walls of Al Muwaiji fort. He has a thick grey beard man and is wearing a cartridge belt. The fort wall behind him has a triangular decoration along the top of the wall. This image was taken during April 6-30, 1948, when Wilfred Thesiger stayed at Al Muwaiji fort in Al Ain as a guest of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
