Seated portrait of a young boy of the Manasir Bedouin at a Manasir encampment in Al Khatam sands near Al Ain. A young boy in a light coloured thobe (shirt) stands on a piece of cloth lying in the sand beside a tent section made of woven palm matting. The boy holds onto a thick branch jutting out of the sand. In front of him bags and fabric lie on the ground, while in the distance beyond a number of large bushes grow in the sand. This image was taken between December 20, 1948, and January 27, 1949, during which time Wilfred Thesiger stayed with Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in Al Ain and joined him on a number of hunting excursions.
Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
