Seated half length portrait of a man of the Rashid Bedouin taken by Wilfred Thesiger during his party's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, likely in the region of Al Humrah sands. The man is likely Sahil, father of Raikan. Salih and his son Raikan accompanied Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party from Al Ain to Al Dhafra sands. Sahil has a thick bushy beard and wears a plain light-coloured cap over his hair and a dark coloured thobe (long shirt). He sits facing towards the right, while behind him a pot sits in the sand. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.
Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
