Side view of dhows (sailboats) moored in the Persian Gulf near Bahrain Island. In the near left foreground a man stands in a rowboat beside a moored dhow. In the distance beyond a number of different types of dhows, including booms, j?lb?ts [jalboots] and sambuks, are moored in calm water rippled by gentle waves. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's May 18-28, 1948 journey by dhow from Dubai to Bahrain Island.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
