Description

View of booms, large double masted dhows (sailboats) built in Kuwait, in the Persian Gulf at Bahrain Island. In the foreground a large boom sits in calm water rippled by gentle waves. A rowboat is tied alongside the boom. Behind it many more booms are moored in the water. In the far distance trees and buildings can be seen along the horizon. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's May 18-28, 1948 journey by dhow from Dubai to Bahrain Island.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
