Description
View of two members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party riding across sand dunes in Liwa oasis. In the right foreground one of Wilfred Thesiger's Rashid Bedouin companions rides a camel across a bare patch of sand leading a baggage camel. In the left foreground Warad, the party's saluki hunting dog, walks towards some near bushes while further beyond another member of the party rides ahead on his camel. In the distance scattered tufts of qassis (sedge) dot the sand dunes in front of them. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
