Description
View of two of Wilfred Thesiger's Bedouin companions at a watchtower in Al Ain/Buraimi oasis. On the right two men with rifles sit on a ruined wall beside a large bush. The foundations of the wall lead towards a two storey watchtower in the centre distance. Behind the watchtower on the far left is a date palm grove. A vast flat plain carpeted with sparse grass and tufts of vegetation fills the far distance behind the watchtower. This image was taken during April 6-30, 1948, when Wilfred Thesiger stayed at Al Muwaiji fort in Al Ain as a guest of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
