Description

View of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's hunting party in Al Khatam sands near Al Ain. In the foreground five men group around a fire on a low sand dune dotted with large dry bushes and piles of equipment. Three of the men sit in a circle, while another two men stand nearby. In the left background another group of men sits in a circle at the top of the dune. In the right background two camels are couched in the sand and a third camel stands by a large bush. This image was taken between December 20, 1948, and January 27, 1949, during which time Wilfred Thesiger stayed with Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in Al Ain and joined him on a number of hunting excursions.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
