Description

Standing full length portrait of an Arab falconer, a member of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's hunting party, holding a peregrine falcon in the Al Khatam sands near Al Ain. In the foreground falconer wearing a light coloured thobe (long shirt) topped with a cartridge belt and suspenders stands in front of a camel couched beside a low shrub. The man holds a peregrine falcon on a mangalah (cuff) on one hand, and leans on a camel stick in his other hand. The falcon, blinded with a leather hood, perches on the mangalah in profile, facing towards the left. In the distance behind him small shrubs and bushes grow on a flat expanse of rocky sand sitting below a cloudy sky.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
