View of Wilfred Thesiger's party in camp in the Wadi al 'Ayn. On the left Hamad, a Mahra retainer of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and one of Wilfred Thesiger's guides, stands in a flowing light-coloured thobe (shirt). Behind him, on the right, a group of men sit in a circle on the ground. Musallim bin Al Kamam, a sheikh of the Musaifar lineage of Rashid Bedouin, sits in the circle at the far right of the group. Third from the right Mahalhal bin 'Ati, a tribesman of the Al Khamis lineage of Awamir Bedouin, sits facing forward holding a porcelain cup and a coffee urn. Around them saddlery, rope, pots, blankets and other equipment lie in the sand. On the far left another man sits outside the circle in front of a large tree, while in the distance more trees grow on a flat plain.
