View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party walking through a palm grove in Liwa oasis. In the foreground four tall date palm trees grow in a depression. Four of Wilfred Thesiger's Rashid Bedouin travelling companions walk along a ridge of sand behind the palms. One of the men leads a camel on a head rope, while the other three follow behind. In the background a large grove of date palms, cultivated by local Arab villagers, grows in the sand. In the far distance softly rolling dunes stretch along the horizon high above the grove. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
