Description
Seated group portrait of four of Wilfred Thesiger's Arab and Bedouin guides resting under a rocky overhang on Jebel Hafeet (Jabal Hafit) mountain. The four men sit in a circle on loose rocks under a limestone overhang. Each man wears a wear a thobe (long shirt) with a cartridge belt and a ghutra (headscarf). At the far left Salim bin Ghabaisha, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of the Rashid Bedouin, sits on a rock. He wears thick leather sandals on his feet. At the far right one of the men looks through binoculars into the left distance. Wilfred Thesiger spent a week on Jebel Hafeet [Jabal Hafit] hunting Arabian Tahr [Hemitragus jayakari] with Arab and Bedouin guides in April 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
