Description

View of a member of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking across the crest of a dune in Al Batin sands during their journey across the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali) from Al Dhafra sands to Liwa oasis. The man, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, leads two laden camels along a high dune ridge. He is carrying a camel stick in his left hand. Behind the man are a few large high dunes. Behind the dunes an area of salt flat (sabkha) can be seen beneath a high, sheer-faced dune with a wind-rippled crest.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
