Description
Standing full length portrait of an Arab falconer, a member of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's hunting party, holding a peregrine falcon in the Al Khatam sands near Al Ain. In the left foreground a falconer wearing a cap and a light coloured thobe (long shirt) topped with a cartridge belt and leather suspenders stands in a patch of soft sand holding a peregrine falcon. The falcon rests on the falconer's mangalah (cuff) on one hand, and is blinded with a leather hood. A saddled thoroughbred Omani camel stands in profile to the right of the falconer, its head rope tied to a bush behind the man. In background small shrubs and bushes grow on a flat expanse of sand sitting below a sky dotted with a few fluffy clouds.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
